• Q: How to replace the front cross-member of the suspension on 2011 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: In order to replace the front suspension crossmember, it is a prerequisite to remove from the generator the generator from the accessory mounting bracket. Installation (J41803) and (J28467-B) for supporting the engine and raise the vehicle, then support. Disassemble the tire and wheel assemblies, and pull off the outer tie rod end stud nuts. Remove the Shock Absorber solenoid circuit wires if equipped, and remove the electronic suspension control (ESC) sensor links. Unfasten the stabilizer shaft, take off the intermediate shaft lower coupling from the steering gear, unscrew the bolts from the electronic brake control module (EBCM)/brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) bracket and move the ebcm/bpmv and bracket back away from the crossmember. Take out the power steering gear mounting bolts and the power steering fluid cooler from crossmember and pull out the power steering gear from crossmember. Using (J 33432-A), remove transverse spring from the vehicle, disconnect lower Shock Absorber bolts from lower control arms and remove the lower Control Arm bolts from the crossmember. Pop a transmission jack underneath the crossmember, remove the engine mount lower nuts and remove the wheel speed sensor wiring harness off the clips on the crossmember, the electrical harness off the clips on the crossmember also and brake pipe off the clips on crossmember. Unbolt the crossmember mounting nuts and take care of the lowering for the crossmember out of the vehicle. For installation purpose, lift up the crossmember to the vehicle. Line up the dowel pins with the frame rails and the engine mount studs. Replace new crossmember mounting nuts and tighten to 110 nm (81 lb ft) and install the engine mount lower nuts. Secure the wheel speed sensor wiring harness retaining clips to the crossmember, attach the electrical harness to the clips, and attach the brake pipe to the clips. Install the transvers spring with (J 33432-A) to the crossmember and then install the lower Control Arm. Mount the shock absorbers to the lower control arms, tightening the lower mounting nuts to 28 nm (21 lb ft). To the crossmember, fix the power steering gear, tighten the mounting bolts to 100 n m (74 lb ft) while fixing the bolts to the bpmv. Mount the intermediate shaft to the steering gear, bolt in steering linkage outer ends to steering knuckles and link the esc sensor links to upper Control Arm if available. If equipped, connect the Shock Absorber solenoid electrical connector, and install the stabilizer shaft, and the tire and wheel assemblies. Lower the vehicle, remove (J 41803) from the engine, (J 28467-B) from the engine, instal the genarator, connect the negative battery, and perrfreont end alignment.
