How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter lever on Buick Park Avenue?

Before repair of an automatic transmission shift lever the sir system needs to be disabled. The shift lever seal needs to be slid all the way up the shift lever before proceeding to detach the steering column trim covers if needed. The base of the column requires you to unplug the shift lever connector followed by unscrewing the shift lever screw from the shift lever assembly. The shift lever needs removal by sliding out both components from the column while directing the shift lever seal into the shift lever assembly's narrow section. Fit the shift lever seal onto the small section of the shift lever assembly. The shift lever assembly can then be put back in place while tightening the shift lever screw to 1.5 nm (13 inch lbs.). Position the shift lever seal at the bottom of the shift lever assembly so it fits correctly with the steering column trim covers. When necessary put back the steering column trim covers followed by activating the sir system.
