The first step to replace a catalytic converter involves elevating and supporting your vehicle. First remove the nut securing the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold followed by removing the connecting position assurance retainer to separate the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector. The first step includes removing the catalytic converter to muffler bolts which ends in discarding the catalytic converter to muffler gasket. Take the HO2S unit along with the catalytic converter out carefully during removal. Begin your installation sequence by mounting first the HO2S and then the catalytic converter. Use a NEW catalytic converter to muffler gasket before tightening both catalytic converter to muffler bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft). Use new catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts rated for a torque of 34 N.m (25 lb ft) during installation. Reconnect the HO2S electrical connector while also installing the CPA retainer before you lower the vehicle.
