  A: The replacement process of a shift cable starts with removing the throttle body air inlet duct. Proceed with removing the retaining clip from the shift cable using a flat-bladed tool before removing the cable from the cable lever using a large flat-bladed tool. Using pliers to depress the cable retainers allows the removal of the cable from the shift cable bracket. Next, remove the knee bolster. Start by removing the console trim plate when the vehicle has console shift and then take out the transaxle shift cable from the floor shift control. The cable installation for column shift begins with a retaining clip removal followed by cable detachment from the column control lever using a flat-bladed tool before removing it from the steering column bracket. The cable should be pulled out through the opening in the cowl. Place the cable correctly inside the engine compartment before installing it into the cowl. To install the cable for a column shift you should first connect it to the steering column bracket and then use the retaining clip to secure it before attaching its other end to the column control lever. The transaxle shift cable needs to connect to floor shift control when working on vehicles that have console shift and then reinstall console trim plate.
