  A: The brake light switch maintenance process starts with the removal of the driver side instrument panel sound insulator and the driver side front floor air outlet duct. Stripping the wiring harness connector from the stoplamp switch requires angled pointed pliers to push down simultaneously on the locking tabs thus extracting the stoplamp switch. The installation requires users to withdraw both the actuating pin and the retaining collar from the stoplamp switch until it reaches a 17 mm (2/3 inches) full extension. Install the brake pedal bracket to engage the tangs of the stoplamp switch but avoid pushing the actuating pin into the switch because it will automatically adjust itself when the brake pedal returns to its rest position. After connecting the wiring harness to the switch you should reinstall the driver side front floor air outlet duct followed by the driver side instrument panel sound insulator.
