Cadillac Catera Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on Cadillac Catera?
A: A drain pan should be placed beneath the power steering fluid reservoir before you siphon the fluid to prevent any spillage. The first step is to remove the Power Steering Pump pulley before disconnecting the hose connected to the inlet of the pump. Start by removing the hose clamp on the inlet of the fluid reservoir followed by pulling out the inlet hose off the pump. Support the vehicle before removing bolts from the bracket that supports the air injection crossover pipe and taking out the bracket. Proceed to remove the Power Steering Pump by taking out its bolts. Kittchen the new Power Steering Pump into its proper position and bolt it down before tightening the bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). Before putting the vehicle down, attach the air injection crossover pipe support bracket along with its bolts while tightening them to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.). You should attach the gear inlet hose to the pump while the vehicle is in a lowered position before tightening it to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Fasten the fluid reservoir hose by securing a clamp while keeping the clamp tight. The vehicle requires the Power Steering Pump pulley to be reinstalled while the power steering fluid reservoir needs refilling before performing the power steering system bleeding.
