How to replace a water pump on Cadillac DTS?

First disconnect the water pump housing to replace the pump unit. Lift the water pump cover using its bolts or studs before removing it all together. Take out both the water pump bolts and remove the water pump from its location before discarding the water pump O-ring seal. Before you begin install a fresh water pump O-ring seal then put in the water pump itself. Fastener handling needs special attention to prevent vehicle damage. Secure the water pump bolts at 10 Nm torque setting (89 lb in of turning force). Install the water pump cover bolt according to the specified lower inboard position and use studs for all other positions. Install the water pump cover bolt/studs by tightening them to 10 Nm (89 lb in) first and then put back the water pump housing.
