Cadillac Escalade ESV Emblem Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the door emblem/nameplate (W/O SS) on Cadillac Escalade ESV?
A: First protect and align the emblem area using tape before you can start replacing the door emblem/nameplate (W/O SS). Use a heat gun (J 25070) to heat the emblem/nameplate from a distance of 152 mm (6.0 in) in a circular motion for about thirty seconds. Remove the emblem/nameplate from the door surface by applyinggentle pressure with a flat-blade plastic tool. Application of a 3M(TM) scotch brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) or equivalent product removes all residue from the door panel's surface and back of the emblem/nameplate. The door surface requires a treatment with varnish makers and painters (VMP) naptha for cleaning. The unmarked emblem/nameplate area requires the application of new tape. Appliying the heat gun (J 25070) to a minimum temperature of 21°C (70°F) should warm the surface of the door while keeping your hands away from touching the emblem/nameplate adhesive backing. Place the front end of the emblem/nameplate on the door panel surface after taking off its front side backing. Then continue removing backing until the placement is correct. Roll the emblem/nameplate across the door panel with your hands to establish proper bonding then check for complete attachment followed by tape removal from the door panel's surrounding area.
