Cadillac Escalade EXT Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the shock absorber on the 25 Series on Cadillac Escalade EXT?
A: The first step to replace a Shock Absorber on a 25 series vehicle requires vehicle support through axle lifting and use of a jack. Disconnect the electronic suspension control (ESC) electrical connector at the pigtail connector on the left side alone and at the top of the right side shock if installed and separate the esc sensor if available. Start by taking out the upper Shock Absorber nut followed by its bolt then detach the lower Shock Absorber nut followed by its bolt until the Shock Absorber is free. The new Shock Absorber goes in place first then uses the upper Shock Absorber nut and bolt for attachment before tightening both upper and lower Shock Absorber nuts to 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). The next steps involve reinstalling the lower Shock Absorber nut along with its bolt then starting by removing the rear axle support before reconnecting both the esc sensor and electrical connectors that were earler disconnected. The safety stands should be removed last while lowering the vehicle.
