How to replace the shock absorber on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by lifting and supporting the vehicle, and then support the rear axle before anything else. Start by taking off the upper Shock Absorber nut and bolt, then remove the lower Shock Absorber nut and bolt, and afterwards take out the Shock Absorber. First, put the new Shock Absorber where it goes and use the upper Shock Absorber nut and bolt to secure it, making sure to read about any fastener risks in the instructions to prevent vehicle damage. Now, put the lower Shock Absorber nut and bolt in place. You should tighten the upper and lower Shock Absorber bolts with 115 nm (85 lb ft). After you have installed the Shock Absorber, take away the support from the rear axle and the stands, then lower the vehicle.
