Start the lower Ball Joint replacement process by lifting the vehicle then taking off its tire and wheel as well as its lower Control Arm. Place the lower Control Arm in a bench vise and remove securing crimps from the joint body using a sharp tool. Set up a press to take out the Ball Joint from its position on the lower Control Arm. Fasten the new Ball Joint by pressing it into the outer flange before putting the lower Control Arm back in its vice position. Fix crimped balls onto the new Ball Joint by pressing if required while following the position of the old joint. Insert the lower Control Arm afterward add the tire and wheel parts. Take the vehicle down and check wheel alignment when you take away the safety stands.

The first step when changing the lower Control Arm Ball Joint on cast iron vehicles calls for lifting and supporting the vehicle before you remove the tire and wheel. You need to disconnect the lower Control Arm from the car. Secure the lower Control Arm in a vise to install the new joint - refer to the removed Ball Joint for alignment. Press the Ball Joint crimps onto the joint body before putting back the lower Control Arm into the vehicle. Put back the wheel and tire then take off the safety stand while lowering the vehicle. Last check the wheel alignment to make sure it matches the required settings.

When replacing the Ball Joint on cast iron lower control arms start by lifting the vehicle and supporting it. Remove the tire and wheel to proceed. Turn off the lower Control Arm to remove it from the vehicle. Secure your Control Arm in the vise and apply a chisel to remove securing crimps from the Ball Joint body when they exist. A press tool will pry the Ball Joint off from the lower Control Arm. Install the new flange piece first by pressing it into the Ball Joint. Afterwards put the lower Control Arm into a bench vise for holding it in place. When needed apply the punch to put in crimps to the joint span while you use the retired joint as your benchmark. Position the lower Control Arm together with its wheel assembly back into the vehicle. End by taking away the safety stand while lowering the vehicle into position and checking wheel alignment.

Secure and move the knuckle away from the lower Control Arm before taking out the Steering Knuckle from the vehicle. Rest the ch 41805 Ball Joint remover install kit on the Control Arm and use a thin socket to take off the lower Ball Joint from the Control Arm. Put the new joint in the lower Control Arm with teeth of the locking tabs facing up if you use adapter ch-49240-2. Add both the ch 41805 - kit and ch-49240-3 tool to the ch-49240-2 then ch-49240-1 connector for installing the Ball Joint. Reverse the ch-49240-2 installation setup. Push the Ball Joint edges until they form lock tabs before securing the ch-49240-3 to 250 nm (184 lb ft). Do this repeated action on all lock tabs to normalize their depth and size. Follow the same procedures while rotating the ch 41805 - kit another 180 degrees around. When necessary push back in the wheel drive shaft then place the Steering Knuckle into its normal position. Place the lower Ball Joint stud nut and tighten it 50 nm first before applying another 95 degrees on final tightening. Lower the vehicle after removing the holding equipment.

Position the CH 41805 - Ball Joint Remover Install Kit on the lower control arm and remove the lower ball joint with a shallow socket.

The CH 41805 - Ball Joint remover/installer, the appropriate adapter, and the CH 49240 - Ball Joint Crimper and Install Kit are required.
