To replace the upper Ball Joint the vehicle must first go up on a lift with the tire and wheel removed. Take out bolt and nut that fasten the bracket to the axle structure before you detach the bracket from the axle. To take the brake hose bracket from the axle you must remove its holding bolt first. The j 44664 upper Ball Joint nut remover needs to be used to take out the nut that holds the Steering Knuckle's upper Ball Joint in place. Fatigue the Steering Knuckle using the j 44663 upper Ball Joint remover and then push out the upper Ball Joint stud from its socket. Complete the removal process by taking the upper Ball Joint out of the vehicle. Place the upper Ball Joint onto the Steering Knuckle before installing its retaining bolts and stud. Tighten them to 110 nm (81 ft.lbs). Secure the upper Ball Joint to Steering Knuckle using j 44664 tool while tightening it to 200 nm (147 ft. Lbs.). Attach the bracket back to the axle after fitting both the bolt and nut which needs 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) torque. Fasten the bolt to hold the brake hose bracket onto the axle. Tighten it to 12 nm or 106 inch pounds. Reinstall the tire and wheel afterward a four-wheel alignment check.
