    Q:
How to replace the lower control arm ball joint (1500) on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
First position the vehicle on jack stands to replace the lower Control Arm Ball Joint in model 1500. Take off the wheel drive shaft only if needed. First secure the knuckle away from its position on the Control Arm before taking out the Steering Knuckle from the car. Strike locking tabs from the Ball Joint body using a hammer chisel and safety tools. Fix the ch 41805 - Ball Joint remover install kit tool onto the lower Control Arm while applying a shallow socket to remove the lower Ball Joint from the Control Arm. When you place the new Ball Joint in the lower Control Arm make sure that teeth for the lock tabs are in their upward position on adapter ch-49240-2. Install the Ball Joint with a shallow socket from the ch 41805 - Ball Joint crimper and install kit and tighten the components using adapter ch-49240-2 for 250 nm (184 lb ft). Check that all new lock tabs have the same depth before rotating ch 41805 and repeating the installation cycle. Put back the wheel drive shaft and attach the Steering Knuckle into the vehicle if necessary. Complete the installation by placing the lowering Ball Joint stud nut and tightening it first to 50 nm (37 lb ft) then continuing to 95 degrees on the final turn. Lower the vehicle after taking away the installed parts.
