The first step of repairing wood steering wheel scratches requires removing the steering wheel from the vehicle. First mask the non-wood section and use a combination of wax and grease remover to clean the wooden part. Sandpaper should stop at the clear coat point because excessive sanding could damage the clear coat layer.
