How to replace the upper intermediate steering shaft on Cadillac SRX?

Before you can replace the upper intermediate Steering Shaft, disable the sir system. Make sure the front wheels are straight and the Steering Column is in lock position before disconnecting the Steering Column or intermediate shaft so as not to have improper alignment as well as damage to the sir coil assembly. Remove the Steering Column along with the upper intermediate shaft from it and remember the fixed placing of the two of them to install properly. Then, remove the upper intermediate shaft to Steering Column retaining bolt and disconnect the upper intermediate shaft from the Steering Column. For installation attach the upper intermediate shaft to the Steering Column as indicated during removal, then bolt it using the retaining bolt, tighten bore to the point of 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Finally, install the Steering Column and enable the sir system.
