    Q: How to Properly Service and Replace a Tie Rod End on a Cadillac SRX?
    A: The first step to replace a rack and pinion outer Tie Rod end requires tire and wheel assembly removal. First loosen the inner Tie Rod nut of the steering linkage then remove the outer Tie Rod end nut of the rack and pinion. The steering link and Tie Rod puller tool (J 24319-B) will help disconnect the rack and pinion outer Tie Rod end from the Steering Knuckle while noting the total complete turns taken during the removal process. Take the rack and pinion outer Tie Rod end from the connection point with the steering linkage inner Tie Rod. Installation of the rack and pinion outer Tie Rod end to the steering linkage inner Tie Rod must be done with the same number of complete turns as measurement during removal while leaving the steering linkage inner Tie Rod nut untightened. Start by placing the rack and pinion outer Tie Rod end on the Steering Knuckle then install its nut and torque it to 55 n.m (41 lb ft). The last step involves tightening the steering linkage inner Tie Rod nut before reinstalling the tire and wheel assembly followed by adjustment of the front toe.
