Chevrolet Astro Hood Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Release Hood Cable on Chevrolet Astro?
    A:
Start the hood cable replacement process by using an appropriate tool to open the cable clip which disconnects the cable from the primary latch before removing the cable housing from the latch. Start by disconnecting the cable from the radiator support fasteners then carefully pull the cable grommet out from the cowl. Disconnect the cable from the cowl before removing the left cowl side trim panel. Pick the cable up from the cowl opening to get at the screws which hold the cable assembly to the cowl side board. To install the cable you must direct it through the cowl front before placing the nuts to keep the cable on the cowl side panel then tighten them to 2 N.m (18 lb in). After reinstalling the left cowl side trim panel, extract the cable assembly from the cowl front until the grommet properly seats. Then connect the cable to fasteners within the radiator support before using an appropriate tool to clamp the cable clip and join the cable to the primary latch. The hood operation should be tested for proper functionality.
