Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Avalanche 1500?
A: Before replacing the surge tank drain the cooling system and remove the air cleaner assembly. Unplug the surge tank overflow hose from the surge tank while removing the low coolant level switch electrical connector. First detach the surge tank inlet hose through clamp relocation before hose extraction. Afterward, relocate the surge tank outlet hose clamp for subsequent hose removal. Begin the surge tank installation by removing both the bolt and nut from the system. Follow these steps to install the surge tank: put the tank in place then secure the bolt at 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) before tightening the nut to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Position the surge tank outlet hose clamp then reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp. After installing the low coolant level switch's electrical connector you should reattach the surge tank overflow hose followed by reinstallation of the air cleaner assembly while you finally complete the coolant system filling process.
