The first step for transmission mount replacement requires proper vehicle suspension and elevation methods. Begin by removing bolts securing the transmission mount shield and then remove the shield itself if present. A transmission jack should support the transmission while you remove any retaining nuts or bolts found on the transmission mount. When available remove the transmission mount shield bracket. Lift the transmission when possible to remove weight from the mount before removing the mounting bolts which link the transmission mount to its interface points. Lift the transmission at the proper height to separate the mount before extracting the transmission mount from the vehicle body. Position the new transmission mount onto the vehicle before installing the mounting bolts to both the transmission or transfer case adapter while tightening the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Install the transmission mount shield bracket after lowering the transmission. Secure the transmission mount using retaining nuts or bolts which must reach a torque specification of 57 Nm (42 ft. lbs.). Remove the transmission jack, then install the transmission mount shield and its bolts if equipped, tightening the front bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) Attach the rear bolts to 33 Nm while using 24 ft.lbs of torque and tighten the front bolts to 50 Nm at 37 ft.lbs. Finally, lower the vehicle.
