To remove the transmission cooler line quick connect fitting to start, pull the plastic cap back from the quick connect fitting, and down the cooler's line for the quick connect fitting of about 2 inches (5 cm). Using a bent-tip screwdriver, pull one of the open ends of the retaining ring, and revolve it around the quick connect fitting until it is out of place and can be removed completely. Once the retaining ring has been removed, throw it out and pull out the cooler line straight out of the quick connect fitting. When installing do not reuse oil lines, oil line fittings, or retaining rings that have previously been used; instead, install new retaining rings. First, with one of the open ends of the new retaining ring, insert it into one of the slots in the quick connect fitting, rotate it until all three ears sit in the three slots. Make sure the three retaining ring ears are visible from within the fitting and that the ring swings easily in slots. Second, connect the cooler line into the quick connect fitting and push until a click sound or feel is heard; do not use the plastic cap for attachment. Pull back hard on the cooler line so that it fits well into the fitting. Mount the plastic cap onto the fitting without hand pressing the retaining ring, ensure the cap is seated with no gap showing here between them with the yellow identification band on the tubing to be covered in the fitting and indicates proper joint seating. Finally, check and add the transmission fluid to the right amount.
