How to replace the Automatic Transmission Shifter for the floor shift control in the Automatic Transaxle-3T40 on Chevrolet Cavalier?

The first step for replacing the floor shift control for the automatic transaxle-3t40 requires disconnecting the battery negative cable. The initial step is to remove the automatic transmission control lever handle retainer which allows subsequent removal of the automatic transmission control lever handle. The service procedure starts with extracting the console before disconnecting the range select lever cable from the automatic transmission control. First remove the electrical connector together with the automatic transmission control nuts before extracting the automatic transmission control from the vehicle. Install the automatic transmission control by putting it in place while strictly adhering to the fastener notice in service precautions. The automatic transmission control nuts must be tightened to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) and the electrical connector must be restored while the range select lever cable must be reconnected to the automatic transmission control. Install the console first then put back the automatic transmission control lever handle along with the retainer. Finish the process by connecting the battery negative cable.
