Chevrolet Cobalt Crankshaft Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear crankshaft seal on Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: You need to begin the crankshaft rear oil seal replacement by removing the transmission followed by the Flywheel while watching for outside crankshaft damage or chamber damage from tools. A flat-bladed tool should be used to pry the crankshaft rear oil seal. Use the rear main seal installer (J 42067) to correctly fit the new seal during the installation process. First install the Flywheel while torquing its bolts to 53 n.m (39 lb ft) followed by an added 25 degrees rotation before reinstalling the transmission.
