Chevrolet Colorado A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in an A/C system on Chevrolet Colorado?
A: First remove the refrigerant from the A/C Accumulator before removing its grille. Before touching any hoses or lines ensure the system is completely discharged to prevent r134a from causing harm to the operator. First detach the condenser hose bolt followed by the condenser hose from the A/C Accumulator then remove the evaporator tube bolt together with its tube. A set of caps should be installed onto both the condenser hose and evaporator tube to stop moisture and oil from leaking out. Approach the A/C Accumulator bracket bolts and assembly to remove them and loosen the clamp bolt which enables A/C Accumulator extraction. When installing a fresh A/C Accumulator select the recommended pag oil quantity from the specifications based on the system capacity. Put the A/C Accumulator bottle inside the clamp yet avoid tightening the bolts and replace every o-ring with pag oil for internal circulation while 525 mineral oil must solely be applied to threads and o-rings. Place the A/C Accumulator bracket bolts while tightening the clamp bolt to reach 5 nm (44 lb in). First detach the condenser hose cap together with its plug before installing a fresh seal washer. Attach the evaporator tube along with its bolt and achieve proper engagement at 20 nm (15 lb ft). Then connect the condenser hose with its bolt before securing it at 20 nm (15 lb ft). The process ends with evacuation of the a/c system while recharging it followed by leak testing with j 39400-a tool before returning the grille.
