Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Filler Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the fuel filler hose on Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The operation to replace the fuel filler tube requires ensuring that the Fuel Tank contains less than 1/4 of its capacity and optionally draining excess fuel if needed. The replacement hose clamps need to be obtained after the new fuel filler tube hoses become available but do not include clamps. Begin the replacement work by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then making sure to avoid smoking area and open flames. To start the procedure remove the fuel filler cap then support the vehicle at height before you disconnect the right rear wheel and its tire alongside the right rear wheelhouse inner liner. The first step toward installing the new fuel hoses requires loosening the clamp on top of the fuel filler tube and removing the fuel filler tube along with both the fresh air hose and fuel vent tubes directly attached to the Fuel Tank. To replace the fuel filler tube the technician disconnects the fresh air hose from the tube as well as removes the closeout grommet and the fuel filler tube bracket bolts from the vehicle. The first step for installation involves using the fresh air hose to connect to the fuel filler tube followed by closeout grommet installation and correct positioning of the fuel filler tube inside the vehicle with alignment to the closeout grommet. Insert and tighten the two fuel filler tube bracket bolts to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Fix the hose-connecting tube to the Fuel Tank while keeping the hose in contact with the tank body and placing the clamp no further than 13 mm (1/2 in) from the hose end before tightening it to 5 n.m (44 lb in). Finally connect the fuel filler vent tube with the fresh air hose before reinstallation of the inner wheelhouse liner followed by wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle onto the floor and reinstall the fuel filler cap after which run the service bay diagnostic test through the scanner to check the fuel system vapor zones.
