How to replace the liftgate hinge on Chevrolet Equinox?

Begin replacing the liftgate hinge by supporting the open liftgate while removing its trim panel. Apply a grease pencil mark to find the liftgate hinge locations before you disconnect the liftgate struts. First disassemble one hinge bolt from the liftgate and the other from the body by removing them one by one. Any new hinge to body nuts will create a secure seal when installed. Set the hinge at its original position as noted during removal then attach the nuts before shifting the hinge to its liftgate installation markings and installing the bolts. Lower the liftgate carefully and check if the parts need realigning before you attach the liftgate struts. Rotate all nuts for the liftgate hinges and body nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) before applying the specified torque to the bolts that join the liftgate to its hinges. Replace the liftgate trim panel at the end of the process.
