Chevrolet Equinox Washer Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Washer Pump and Washer Reservoir on Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Begin working on the washer pump/reservoir replacement by unscrewing the surge tank bolts when the engine has reached proper cooling temperatures. Take off the level sensor of the surge tank and keep the surgetank in the engine area while leaving the coolant hoses connected. Turn off the front washer solvent container bolts and free the front washer solvent container hose from its connection on the front washer nozzle hose in the upper motor compartment rail area. Position the washer solvent container at the back of the vehicle and draw it out from its mounting position. Detach the washer pump electrical connection and remove the washer solvent pump from the solvent container keeping spilled fluid under control. Take off the washer solvent hoses from both ends of the washer pump. When installing the hoses avoid putting used washer solvent through them to avoid blockages. Insert the washer pump into the solvent container maintaining the pump filter when installed and plug in the washer pump electrical cable. Mount the washer solvent container into the motor area with grommet and mounting peg properly seated in the body structure while applying lubricant for easier installation. A washer solvent container grommet needs to be added between the container and bodywork to stop the noises of squeaks and rattles. Fit the front washer solvent hose to the front nozzle hose on top of the motor compartment rail and tighten the washer solvent container screws to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Set the coolant surge tank correctly then put on its bolts and tighten them at 6 n.m (53 lb in). Afterward add washer solvent into the solvent container.
