The first step to replace the upper shroud of the engine coolant fan involves removing the coolant recovery reservoir as well as removing the air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet resonator. You need to detach the a/c suction hose for the 4.3l engine yet separation of the radiator inlet hose applies to all 4.3l, 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engine types. After disconnecting the
Battery Cable from Fan Shroud clips replace it in position while the process continues by extracting the maf sensor wire from the Fan Shroud clip before repositioning it. Start by removing the transmission oil lever indicator before separating the Fan Shroud bolts (1, 3, 4) and (2, 5) Fan Shroud from its position. Position the Fan Shroud first (2, 5) as per the fastener notice before tightening it via Fan Shroud bolts (1, 3, 4) to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Reinstall the transmission oil lever indicator together with the maf sensor wire to the Fan Shroud clip while replacing the Battery Cable to its Fan Shroud clips. The a/c suction hose needs reinstallation for the 4.3l engine although radiator inlet hose reconnecting applies to engines 4.8l, 5.3l and 6.0l. Put the coolant recovery reservoir and air cleaner assembly along with the air cleaner outlet resonator into their proper positions.
