Chevrolet Express 2500 Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the fuel pressure regulator on Chevrolet Express 2500?
A: The service procedure for the Fuel Pressure Regulator begins with removing both engine cover and upper intake manifold assembly components. First remove the clip that holds the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer before you pull out the retainer from its housing while using a shop towel to absorb fuel leakage. The process requires removal of the regulator seal lower o-ring followed by the regulator assembly filter and the regulator seal upper o-ring and finishing with the regulator seal back up ring. You need to cover the Fuel Pressure Regulator housing before discarding its o-rings because contamination must be prevented. During reinstallation of the Fuel Pressure Regulator you should check for contamination in the filter screen and replace the regulator if any evidence of problems exists. Apply clean engine oil to new o-rings after which you should place the regulator seal back up ring followed by the regulator seal upper o-ring then the regulator assembly filter and finally the regulator seal lower o-ring . Position the vacuum tube downwards within the regulator assembly before fastening it with the retainer clip. You should put back the upper manifold assembly along with tightening the fuel filler cap before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. Turn the ignition on for 2 seconds followed by turning it off for 10 seconds before another 2-second ignition on period to check for fuel leaks. Finally, install the engine cover.
