Begin repealing the transmission fluid cooler hose/pipe by first removing the upper oil cooler line from the
Radiator then suspending the vehicle into the air. First detach the engine protector shield when dealing with vehicles that have awd before you can handle the lower cooler line from the Radiator. A plastic cap must be pulled backward on the quick connect fitting of the transmission up to two inches before removing the retaining ring and cooler line. A bent-tip screwdriver can rotate the retaining ring so it moves out of position completely for discarding it. To detach the remaining cooler lines you must pull the cooler line straight out from the quick connect fitting while removing the retaining ring (E-clips) which connects the cooler line to the quick connect fitting. The cooler lines should be detached from their retaining clip at the
Oil Pan before transporting them out of the vehicle. Installation of retaining rings should only involve new components. First place an entirely new retaining ring (E-clip) within the quick connect fitting while ensuring its proper position with all three ears penetrating the slots. Mount the cooler lines onto the vehicle but only after placing plastic caps at the end points before using the quick connect fittings. Secure the end of the cooler line into the fitting by pulling back strongly after hearing or feeling the click. Check the connection to verify the attachment. Place the plastic cap onto the fitting in a way that does not engage the retaining ring manually but ensures a proper fit with a closed gap and complete hiding of the yellow identification band inside the fitting. Proceed to check for bent parts when the plastic cap refuses proper placement. The oil cooling line installation process ends by placing cooler lines into the retaining clip at the Oil Pan and securing both lines to the Radiator with flair nuts torqued to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). After lowering the vehicle, finishing the installation by securing the upper line with another flair nut using the same torque specification.
