Chevrolet Impala TPMS Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor (Snap In Style) on Chevrolet Impala?
A: Start by raising a suitable support to service the Tire Pressure Indicator Sensor (Snap In Style). Pull out the tire/wheel assembly from the vehicle and separate the tire from its rim. The installation process demands a fresh Schrader(R) tire pressure monitor (TPM) as well as a brand new TORX screw. To detach the tire pressure sensor from its tire pressure valve stem you need to first remove the TORX screw then pull the sensor directly off. Cautious handling of aluminum wheels during tire changes will protect their clear coating preventing corrosion and peeling. Pull the tire pressure valve stem through the rim to remove it. To install properly position the flat sides of the valve to match the enclosures snap surface while remembering that TPM valves and TORX screws have one-time use capabilities. Attach the tire pressure sensor to the valve stem and place the new TORX screw followed by a torque adjustment to 1.3 Nm (11.5 lb in). Apply tire mounting lubricants approved by manufacturers while staying away from compounds which might damage tires or rims. Use tire soap on the valve stem rubber and insert it into the mounting tool to pull the stem parallel to the rim's valve hole. The Snap Fit TPM sensors arrive in an OFF state so technicians can program their vehicles normally after tire inflation activates them from their initial state. The tire mounting step continues followed by assembly installation onto the vehicle then vehicle lowering for sensor learning.
