Chevrolet Metro Exhaust Pipe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Exhaust Pipe on Chevrolet Metro?
A: The process of servicing or repairing the Exhaust Pipe starts with assigning support to the vehicle before lifting it. Unfasten two bolts to detach the front pipe/twc assembly which exists on top of the Exhaust Manifold and extract the electrical connector from the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S2) . The service requires removal of the front pipe/twc assembly from the resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly by uninstalling two nuts. Then you must take out the hanger which supports the twc followed by extracting the front pipe/twc assembly from the vehicle. Wash the sealing area of the front pipe/twc assembly before putting in the new front pipe/twc components. The front pipe/twc assembly should be attached to the resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly with new gasket while maintaining a secure placement with two nuts that do not reach full torque. First install a new seal before attaching the front pipe/twc assembly to the Exhaust Manifold through two bolts while leaving them loose. Reinstall the heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S2) electrical connector at this time. Alignment checks should come first before you begin tightening the fasteners to stop noise and vibrations from occurring. Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts that connect the front pipe/twc assembly to the Exhaust Manifold to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) and those connecting the front pipe/twc assembly to the resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
