Chevrolet Monte Carlo Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the power steering pump on Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: A drain pan should be placed first under the car while you remove the accessory Drive Belt which operates the Power Steering Pump pulley. Position the vehicle on a lifting stand before you take out the wheel and tire while keeping it safely elevated above the floor. Disengage the power steering pressure line together with the power steering return hose from the pump. The first step involves removing both mounting bolts for the Power Steering Pump while extracting the Power Steering Pump assembly. The first step involves separating the Power Steering Pump pulley together with the Power Steering Pump reservoir from the pump assembly. Start the installation by fixing the Power Steering Pump reservoir along with pulley to its place on the pump and afterward position the pump assembly towards the engine. Mount the bolts according to specification before tightening them to 34 nm (25 ft. Lbs.). When ready disconnect the power steering pressure line and return hose. Next put back the tire and wheel unit. After lowering the vehicle you should install the accessory Drive Belt. The power steering system needs fluid addition before performing a bleeding operation to eliminate air bubbles. After completing the inspection of system leaks you should remove the drain pan that is positioned below the vehicle.
