The first step for Power Steering Pump replacement on a 3.4l engine requires placing a drain pan underneath the vehicle with removal of the coolant recovery reservoir. The first step requires removing the Power Steering Pump pulley from its position and then removing the ignition wiring harness which is positioned by the pump. Cut the power steering pressure line and power steering return hose before removing the Power Steering Pump bolts to pull out both components and their reservoir. First install the Power Steering Pump reservoir onto the pump before you position the pump assembly onto the engine and tighten its mounting bolts to 34 nm (25 ft. Lbs.). You must reattach both the power steering pressure line together with the return hose before reconnecting the ignition control wiring harness and Power Steering Pump pulley. The final steps of replacements are filling and bleeding the power steering system followed by leak inspection while draining the pan placed below the vehicle.
