The Radiator is an essential part which is fitted on Chevrolet S10 cars in order to allow the cooling of the engine coolant. This is a heat exchanger through which heat from the coolant passing through the tubes is transferred to the air passing through the fins. S10 radiators come with aluminum cores and plastic or aluminum tanks, but there are models made of copper or brass as well. There have been progress to a performance model, made of lightweight aluminum with welded tanks for improvement of the durability and heat exchange. Such performance models are characterised by the use of bigger tubes and high fin density to enhance the flow of coolant and heat. They come in direct fit and universal configurations and are suitable for street rods and racing among other uses to provide effective engine cool in various circumstances.

Chevrolet S10 Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator on a 4.3L engine on Chevrolet S10?
    A:
Engine maintenance starts with draining coolant from the system and moving the coolant recovery hose clamp to another position on the Radiator. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to move the Radiator inlet hose clamp and remove the Radiator inlet hose afterwards. Move onto the Radiator outlet hose using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reposition its clamp before finally removing the hose. Start by removing the engine oil cooler lines along with transmission oil cooler lines from the Radiator followed by Radiator removal. A thorough examination of the rubber mounts should precede new Radiator installation. Lay the new Radiator into place before installing the transmission oil cooler lines and the engine oil cooler line. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to place the Radiator outlet hose clamp before reattaching the hose. The new Fan Shroud receives installation followed by attaching the Radiator inlet hose to which you fasten the hose clamppliers (J 38185). To finish the installation you should connect the coolant recovery reservoir hose and reposition its clamp before filling the cooling system.
