Chevrolet S10 Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front wheel bearing on a 4WD pickup or utility on Chevrolet S10?
A: Use safety stands and raise your vehicle to work on the front Wheel Bearing for a 4wd pickup or utility vehicle. Place a punch in the rotor slots before you discard the drive axle nut and washer. Shift the wheel drive shaft outer end by placing a brass drift against it and striking it with a hammer gently but firmly. Keep the wheel drive shaft connected to the Wheel Bearing and hub. Unwind the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt then remove the sensor from the Wheel Hub bearing part. Afterward, disconnect the Wheel Hub bearing bolts from the Steering Knuckle while placing the assembly on the Wheel Hub studs on the opposite side to protect the bearing seal. Take out the Steering Knuckle splash shield and Wheel Hub and bearing seal from their general assembly. You can start by putting the Wheel Hub and bearing seal on its place and then fitting the splash shield securely onto the Steering Knuckle while keeping it in the right spot. Put the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly onto the Steering Knuckle and secure its threaded positions. Then bolt the assembly to 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs.). Position and fasten the Wheel Speed Sensor and bolt with a torque of 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). Secure the rotor by setting it on the punch tool first then adding the drive axle washer and nut. Tighten the nut to 140 nm (103 ft. Lbs.) when attaching. Return the wheel and tire then put the vehicle back down to the ground.
