How to replace the alternator bracket on Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The replacement of the generator bracket starts with opening the clamp that secures the air cleaner outlet duct at the mass air flow intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor. The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose and air cleaner adapter nut need to be removed before proceeding. First raise the air cleaner outlet duct to free the hinge clip from the throttle body lip before uninstalling the cooling fan along with Drive Belt followed by removing the wiring harness bracket bolt and heater hose bracket bolt and generator and Drive Belt tensioner and Drive Belt idler pulley. To remove the generator bracket first disassemble its bolts and nut. To install the generator bracket first place it into position then fasten it by tightening the generator bolts and nut to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Add the Drive Belt idler pulley to the line while also mounting the Drive Belt tensioner as well as the generator. The heater hose bracket bolt requires tightening at 25 n.m (18 lb ft) tension before proceeding with the wiring harness bracket bolt which needs the same amount of nut torque. Start by installing the cooling fan and Drive Belt and move the hinge clip toward the throttle body lip until its mounting stud enters the hole to mount the air cleaner outlet duct. Finish the installation with the air cleaner adapter nut then attach the pcv hose before securely clamping the maf/iat sensor-mounted air cleaner outlet duct.
