The first step for replacing the A/C orifice tube involves the recovery of refrigerant. You can uninstall the A/C orifice tube from its position on the evaporator tube by using the Orifice Tube Remover (J 26549-E). Begin this process by first loosening the nut connected to the evaporator tube fitting. Cap or plug the open line. Before O-ring installation on the evaporator tube seek to lubricate it with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil from new supply. Install the replacement A/C orifice tube into the evaporator tube but make sure that the O-ring seal receive application of 525 viscosity refrigerant oil. The long screen side of the new A/C orifice tube must be inserted into the evaporator tube before attaching it at the fitting while maintaining a torque of 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Evacuate the system along with recharging it while conducting a Halogen Leak Detector test on fittings that make up the repaired component (J 39400-A).
