Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Mass Air Flow Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor and Intake Air Temperature Sensor on Chevrolet Silverado 2500?
    A:
To remove the mass air flow (MAF) and intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, treat the sensor with care so that it does not damage the honeycell at the air inlet end and do not touch the sensing elements nor allow any cleaning solvents or lubricants to touch them; a small portion of a non- silicon-based lubricant can be applied on the air duct to help you out during installation. Start with the removal of the air cleaner outlet duct, remove the gray connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and press down the black clip to pull out maf/iat sensor electrical connector. Loose the maf/iat clamp and disconnect the sensor on the air cleaner assembly. For installation, be sure the embossed arrow on the maf/iat sensor is facing towards the engine and insert the sensor back into the air cleaner assembly and tighten the maf/iat clamp to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Connect maf/iat sensor, install electrical connector and push in the gray cpa retainer, and then reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct.
