Engine generator replacement on 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l engines starts with negative
Battery Cable disconnection followed by accessory
Drive Belt removal. First remove the engine sight shield before disconnecting the generator electrical connector and sliding the boot away from the terminal stud to access it. The generator cable nut should be removed from the terminal stud and the generator cable taken off. The generator bolts should be removed before you extract the generator. The installation begins with generator placement before tightening generator bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the generator cable while tightening the generator cable nut to the terminal stud to 9 n.m (80 lb in) before sliding the boot onto the terminal stud. Begin by connecting the generator electrical connector before reinstalling the engine sight shield and putting back the accessory Drive Belt before you reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
