How to Perform an Alternator Replacement on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the generator replacement by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and removing the Drive Belt. Start by removing the battery positive cable nut from the generator followed by taking off the a/c line mounting bracket bolt attached to the engine lift hook. The next step involves removing the lift hook's right bolts followed by the removal of the lift hook itself. Remove the 3 generator mounting bolts first before extracting the generator. During installation replace the generator before tightening the 3 bolts at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Seal and tighten the generator's positive Battery Cable using the nut to a torque of 9 n.m (80 lb in). Mount the engine lift hook back and lock it into place with two bolts tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Use 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque to fasten the a/c line bracket bolt onto the lift hook. You need to reattach both the Drive Belt and the battery negative cable.

How to replace the alternator on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnection of the negative Battery Cable and belt removal stands as the first step for replacing the Alternator. Drop the battery positive cable nut from the generator followed by the a/c line mounting bracket bolt at the engine lift hook. Start by removing both right engine lift hook bolts until you can take off the lift hook. Remove the generator first by unbolting the three attached generator mounting points before extracting it. Installation requires the generator to be attached using the 3 bolts while torquing each to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Secure the positive Battery Cable to the generator by tightening its nut to 9 n.m using 80 lb in torque settings. Screw in the engine lift hook while tightening 2 bolts to 50 n.m (37 lb in) torque specification. Fix the a/c line bracket to the lift hook by threading the bolt until it reaches 10 n.m torque (89 lb in of torque). Once everything is ready, install the Drive Belt followed by reconnecting the negative cable of the battery.
