Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Classic Hood Latch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the hood latch on Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Classic?
A: You should start by elevating the hood then taking off the upper radiator support baffle. First disconnect the hood ajar indicator switch connector (when installed) by separating the connector. Then remove the two hood release latch bolts. The process begins by disconnecting the hood release cable end from the latch before taking out the hood release latch from the vehicle. The hood release cable end mounts to the latch and the hood ajar indicator switch connector when provided. Attach the Hood Latch onto the radiator support before inserting the two bolts but leave them loosely installed. The installer should modify the Hood Latch position to create a secure hold between the hood and front hood bumpers when the hood is closed. When operating on the hood perform the following sequence: first secure the Hood Latch bolts at 9 n.m (80 lb in) then adjust the front hood bumpers until the hood surface matches the fenders. You should reinstall the upper radiator support baffle as the last step.
