The first step to replace a cab/chassis front filler tube requires the elimination of fuel system pressure. Before working with rear auxiliary tanks disconnect both fuel and EVAP quick connect fittings and install caps to fuel and EVAP pipes to stop contamination. A technician should first loosen both the fuel fill pipe clamp and vent pipe clamp that attach to the tank and then remove the pipes while placing caps on these tank openings to prevent contaminants. Before installation remove the protective caps from both fuel and vent openings on the tank space before fitting the fuel fill pipe and vent pipe in place. You should torque both the fuel fill pipe clamp and the vent pipe clamp at the tank to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in). When using a rear auxiliary tank that has EVAP and fuel feed connections, users should remove the pipe caps followed by reconnecting the quick disconnect elements to those systems.
