Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Coolant Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
    A:
Service of the Coolant Reservoir starts with draining the cooling system. Service on the surge tank requires removal of three components starting with the overflow hose then cleaning the air cleaner assembly. Detach each hose that connects to the surge tank before removing the surge tank hose clamps. Untangle the electrical connector for the Coolant Level Sensor before uninstalling the surge tank's bolt and nut. When installing the surge tank return it to position while securely torquing the surge tank nut and bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After securing the surge tank hose clamps attach the hoses while connecting the Coolant Level Sensor electrical connector and installing the surge tank overflow hose. To protect the engine and Heater Core and Radiator from corrosion replace the air cleaner while adding dex-cool coolant to the system and plan for an early coolant replacement at 50,000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.
