The required tool that needs to be used to service and repair the Coolant Reservoir outlet for 4.8l, 5.3l and 6.0l engines is j43181 heater line quick connect release tool (J43181). Start by draining the cooling system. Disconnect the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the
Throttle Body and mass airflow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor locations while removing the air cleaner outlet duct. If the vehicle is without regular production option (RPO) c36 auxiliary heater, perform the following removal: remove the surge tank/heater outlet hose from the mounting clip; if equipped with rpo c36, do the same. Install the j43181 at the outlet hose for the surge tank (black connector) and yank in until the quick connect end of the hose seats. Grasp the outlet hose tightly and drag rpo c36 configuration regardless in order to disconnect it from heater and blower module. Move the surge tank outlet hose clamp from the surge tank, remove the surge tank outlet hose from the surge tank and the
Water Pump, and then take out the surge tank outlet hose from itself. For installation, retube the surge tank outlet hose back to the Water Pump with the clamp, attach the surge tank outlet hose to the surge tank whilst positioning its clamp. If the product comes with rpo c36, connect the surge tank outlet hose to heater that blower module and makes sure it clicks in place. Repeat for vehicles without rpo c36. Install the surge tank/heater outlet hose onto the mounting clip thus applicable, installing the air cleaner outlet duct, aligning with the Throttle Body attaching stud. Lastly, tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamps to the Throttle Body and maf/iat sensor of 7 nm (62 inch lbs) and fill the cooling system.
