Chevrolet Tracker Steering Knuckle Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the steering knuckle on Chevrolet Tracker?
A: In order to service and repair the Steering Knuckle, you need to lift and support the operation of the vehicle. Take off the tire and wheel assembly and subsequently the brake rotor. Then remove the hub with bearings and seals. Remove the Tie Rod nut and use the universal steering linkage puller (J24319-B) to pry air the Tie Rod apart from the knuckle. Remove the 4 bolts from the brake shield then take off the brake shield from Spindle. Go ahead and take off the Spindle with the drive shaft bearing from the knuckle, and then the nut from the Control Arm ball stud. One must support the lower Control Arm with a jack to avoid injures to oneself and parts, as the coil spring is under a lot of pressure. Take out the two nuts and the two bolts from the strut bracket then using the universal steering linkage puller (J24319-B) take off the knuckle from the ball stud. Lastly, take out the front drive shaft outer seal as well as the front drive shaft inner seal on the knuckle.
