Chevrolet Uplander Drive Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Drive Shaft on Chevrolet Uplander?
A: Vehicle elevation followed by proper support is required for propeller shaft replacement. First write reference marks on the propeller shaft at the transfer case flange before removing the propeller shaft-to-transfer case flange bolts. Begin by applying marks to the propeller shaft at the torque tube flange before uninstalling the propeller shaft-to-torque tube flange bolts. Push the propeller shaft toward the back of the vehicle before taking it out. For installation the propeller shaft ends must join with the torque tube flange by aligning reference marks between the propeller shaft and the torque tube flange. Mechanical threadlocker GM P/N United States 12345493 P/N Canada 10953488 or equivalent must be applied after cleaning and before installing the bolts onto their threads. The installation of the propeller shaft-to-torque tube bolts should be done by hand to preserve the correct positioning while positioning a crescent washer on each bolt set. Drive the propeller shaft towards the vehicle's rear while installing it to the transfer case flange to match reference marks. Users should begin installation of propeller shaft-to-transfer case bolts after placing a crescent washer on each pair before tightening the bolts in a cross pattern to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). The vehicle needs to be lowered down after the technician applies torque to the propeller shaft to torque tube bolts in a cross sequence at 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
