Chevrolet Uplander Shift Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the automatic transaxle range selector shift cable on Chevrolet Uplander?
A: The first step in replacing the automatic transaxle shift cable is to remove the throttle body air inlet duct. A flat-bladed tool should be used to detach the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle shift cable while another large flat-bladed tool will disconnect the cable from the cable lever. A set of pliers should be used to depress these cable retainers until users can take out the cable from the automatic transaxle shift cable bracket. Start by first removing the knee bolster combined with the retaining clip from the cable before proceeding to disconnect the cable from the column control lever then from the steering column bracket. Pull the cable completely through the hole found in the cowl until it exits on the other side. Place the cable in correct position when routing through the engine compartment before inserting it through the cowl. Connect the cable to the steering column bracket where it must be stabilized through the retaining clip on cable. Secure the knee bolster into position while connecting cable to the column control lever before connecting it at the bracket. Route link cable through the shift lever before securing it with retaining clip on the cable. You need to adjust the cable before reinstalling the throttle body air inlet duct.
