Chevrolet Venture Antenna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the Navigation Antenna on Chevrolet Venture?
A: The process to remove this Navigation Antenna starts with unscrewing the left front sunshade followed by disassembling the left front windshield garnish along with the instrument panel IP trim pad. First disconnect the GPS antenna coaxial cable from the Onstar harness by untaping it then unroute the harness from the IP before separating the cable from the vehicle interface unit (VIU). When removing the antenna from windshield and roof panel users must use a razor blade with isopropyl alcohol to clean any remaining residue on the windshield. Draw a pencil mark on the windshield's surface where it meets the black-out zone at 2 mm height (0.079 inches) below and 30 mm (1.18 inches) distance to the side black-out area. Hold up the inside glass with a clean lint-free cloth and an isopropyl alcohol pad while you take away the backing paper from the antenna housing. Begin removing the sticky backing from the metallic strip. Mount the GPS antenna to the marked windshield position then lower the headliner gently so the GPS antenna and grounding tab bond securely before putting the GP antenna onto the roof after removing its metallic back strip protection. The GPS antenna coaxial cable requires connection at the VIU which must travel through the IP and up the left front A-pillar before being attached to the OnStar(R) harness. Place back the IP trim pad and the left front windshield garnish molding before installing the left front sunshade.
