To service and repair the Harmonic Balancer you should start to assemble the necessary tools: Harmonic Balancer puller (J24420-C) and Harmonic Balancer installer (J29113). Firstly, take off the
Drive Belt and next lift up to and to support the vehicle. Next, take off the right front tire and wheel, after that, the right engine splash shield. Install utility stand underneath the frame right side rail to support frame/powertrain, and remove frame right side bolts (2). Make use of the utility stand in order to bring the frame to a lowered position, which offers access to the Harmonic Balancer. Cautiously remove the Harmonic Balancer retaining bolt and washer, then slide out the Harmonic Balancer using the Harmonic Balancer puller (J 24420-C). Clean and inspect the Harmonic Balancer then apply sealer gm p/n 12345739 or an equivalent onto the keyway of the new Harmonic Balancer. Mount the Harmonic Balancer to the key on the crankshaft and insert the Harmonic Balancer installer (J 29113) to draw the balancer onto it. After removing the installer, install the Harmonic Balancer washer and bolt then bolt into a tightness of 103 nm (76 ft. Lbs.). Take the frame/powertrain up, install new frame right side bolts, and reinstall right engine splash shield. Lastly, replace the right front tire and wheel, lower the vehicle, and fit the Drive Belt.
