GMC C2500 Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers
A: Service of the Fuel Injector begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and removing the engine sight shield from the vehicle. The removal of the Fuel Pressure Regulator allows the technician to drain unnecessary fuel but stops it from getting into the engine cylinders and avoiding flooding and engine damage. Before removing the Fuel Rail assembly the system needs to be drained of pressure. The fork of j 43013 (Fuel Injector assemble removal tool) requires use to remove the injector from the Fuel Rail pod with care against damaging the electrical connector pins and nozzle. The technician needs to discard both the retainer clip and the o-ring seals of the injector located at both injector ends. The correct Fuel Injector should be obtained by using part number identification and four-digit build date code to verify the correct match. Use clean engine oil to lubricate newly installed o-ring seals on the injector before putting them both ends. Push the Fuel Injector into the Fuel Rail injector socket while attaching a new retainer clip to its surface making sure the electrical connector faces outward. The retainer clip should lock onto the flange on the Fuel Rail injection socket. After proper reinsertion of the Fuel Rail assembly and securing the fuel filler cap reinstall the negative Battery Cable. The inspection for leaks can be checked by doing a on for 2 seconds and off for 10 seconds ignition cycle followed by another on cycle. Attach the engine sight shield while securing all engine sight shield bolts at 10 n.m (89 lb in).
